About the Technical Junior Manager Job at Blue Ventures
The Technical Junior Manager provides technical support to partners in Kenya across three core pillars: Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, and Food Security. The role focuses on implementing fisheries data systems, strengthening monitoring processes, and delivering technical training to partner organizations and communities.
Working closely with global Technical Knowledge, Programme Performance, and Data Science teams, the Junior Manager will support fisheries data collection, analysis, and interpretation to inform adaptive marine resource management. The position requires strong expertise in fisheries science, community-based management approaches, and environmental data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Partner Capacity Building

Provide technical support to Kenyan partners involved in community-based fisheries management.

Deliver training on marine resource management and mobile fisheries monitoring tools.

Support partners in interpreting fisheries data to inform management decisions.
Data Systems & Monitoring

Implement Blue Ventures fisheries data systems across partner organizations.

Oversee fisheries data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.

Ensure data quality and promote effective data use at community level.
Tool & Resource Development

Support development and rollout of tools and materials including:

Mobile data collection applications
-
Decision-support tools
-
Community facilitation guides
-
Manuals, guides, videos, and online learning materials

Workshops, webinars, mentoring, and skills exchange initiatives

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

Coordinate with Blue Ventures teams across all countries to align methodologies and tools with global strategies.

Adapt global tools to local Kenyan contexts.

Share knowledge and learning from Kenya across the organization.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:

Strong technical expertise in fisheries science and ecology.

Experience in community-based fisheries management principles.

Experience in research and managing environmental data collection.

Strong skills in data analysis and reporting.

Experience communicating scientific concepts to non-technical audiences.

Experience working with environmental or socio-economic data.
