GAIN is seeking to recruit an Employee Relations and Safeguarding Lead will play a pivotal leadership role in the HR team and will be responsible for leading and taking full accountabilities for all aspects of service delivery for employee relations and safeguarding activity, fostering a supportive, inclusive, and compliant work environment. Lead on shaping and overseeing the employee relations and safeguarding framework and strategy in order to support and strengthen GAIN’s organisational culture and strategic objectives. This Employee Relations and Safeguarding Lead jobs in Kenya opportunity is suited for professionals with strong experience in HR leadership and safeguarding.
This role will be offered on two (2) years fixed term contract, subject to securing the award and availability of funding and will be based in Kenya. This advert closes on 14th May 2026. Key Responsibilities include.
- Lead on the development and implementation of employee relations strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational values and goals
- Develop and embed the strategic organisational approach to managing employee relations cases across the organisation
- Partner with Learning and Development colleagues to develop high standards of people management and leadership capability across the organisation, helping managers have the confidence and skills to manage teams and individuals effectively.
- Develop and deliver training programs on employee relations, safeguarding, workplace harassment, diversity and inclusion, etc.
- Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of GAIN’s safeguarding policies and practices to ensure high standards and continuous improvements across the organization.
- Oversee and review systems and procedures for identifying, receiving, reporting, investigating and responding to safeguarding issues, concerns and complaints are in-place and operating effectively
- Build and maintain a safeguarding community of practice and support key stakeholders across GAIN to understand and implement policy
- Review, update, and enforce HR & Safeguarding policies to ensure alignment with legal requirements and organizational values.
- Stay updated on labour laws and safeguarding regulations in all countries where GAIN operates, advising the organisation on necessary adjustments.

About you
The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic leadership and the ability to influence and inspire teams at all levels, driving both operational excellence and cultural change. They will demonstrate clear, systems thinking with sound judgement, creativity, and strong problem-solving skills, alongside deep expertise in employee relations, safeguarding, and relevant labour laws. With high emotional intelligence and cultural competence, they will handle sensitive issues with diplomacy, maintain confidentiality, and foster an inclusive environment. Their experience will include leading teams, managing complex employee relations cases, embedding safeguarding practices across diverse organizations, and delivering training and capacity building. Resilient and adaptable, they will thrive under pressure, effectively manage conflict, and remain committed to continuous learning and professional development.
About our offer
The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from KES 6,236,928 – KES 7,127,928 gross per annum, depending on experience.
