Job Purpose

The Global Advocacy Team Lead provides strategic leadership, coordination, and capacity development for CBM’s global advocacy work.

The role ensures that advocacy strategies are effectively implemented and that political and policy intelligence informs organisational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage CBM’s global advocacy team

  • Develop and implement global advocacy strategies aligned with organisational priorities

  • Oversee the development and use of advocacy tools, including policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy toolkits

  • Ensure alignment and coherence of advocacy efforts across the organisation

  • Analyse political developments, trends, and narratives related to disability-inclusive development

  • Identify advocacy opportunities and provide evidence-based recommendations

  • Link programmatic evidence with advocacy and policy influencing objectives

  • Represent CBM at global advocacy platforms and high-level political engagements

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including UN agencies, governments, coalitions, and Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs)

  • Monitor advocacy outcomes and strengthen evidence-based positioning and messaging

  • Identify and manage advocacy-related risks, including political and reputational considerations

  • Provide strategic insights and analysis to senior management

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, or a related field

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in policy advocacy, preferably within an international NGO

  • 5–10 years of leadership experience managing international teams

  • Strong understanding of national and global political processes

  • Knowledge of human rights frameworks, including CRPD and SDGs

  • Demonstrated ability to link programmatic evidence to advocacy strategies

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and policy writing skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Fluency in English required; additional languages (French, Spanish, or German) are an asset

  • Alignment with CBM’s values and mission
