Position Overview

Position Location: Nasaruni Indigenous Women Hub, Nturukuma Center-Nanyuki, Laikipia County, Kenya. Application Deadline: May 15, 2026

Position Summary
SWT is seeking a dynamic and experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer to strengthen organizational systems for results measurement, accountability, learning, and donor compliance.

The MEAL Officer will lead the design and implementation of monitoring frameworks across SWT projects, ensure data quality and reporting excellence, strengthen community feedback systems, and generate evidence for advocacy and program improvement.

This position requires a professional who is analytical, detail-oriented, community-sensitive, and committed to Indigenous feminist values.

Key Responsibilities for Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer

  1. Monitoring & Evaluation Systems
    Develop and maintain project log frames, indicator tracking tools, and performance monitoring plans.
    Design data collection tools and oversee routine data collection processes.
    Ensure data quality assurance and compliance with donor standards.
    Conduct baseline, midline, and endline assessments where required.
  2. Data Management & Reporting
    Maintain project databases and tracking systems.
    Analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
    Prepare high-quality donor reports aligned with KPIs and reporting frameworks.
    Support grant proposal development with evidence and data insights.
  3. Accountability & Community Feedback
    Establish and strengthen community feedback and complaints mechanisms.
    Ensure accountability systems are inclusive and culturally appropriate.
    Document lessons learned and best practices.
  4. Learning & Institutional Strengthening
    Facilitate reflection and learning sessions with program teams.
    Support adaptive management and continuous improvement.
    Develop learning briefs and impact stories.
  5. Compliance & Audit Support
    Ensure documentation meets donor compliance requirements.
    Support internal and external audits.
    Maintain organized monitoring documentation for audit readiness.
  6. Required Qualifications and Experience
    Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences, or related field. A master’s degree will be an advantage.
    Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in MEAL roles within development or humanitarian organizations.
    Strong expertise in building visual reports and dashboards.
    Strong expertise in data collection tools (Kobo Collect, ODK, etc.).
    Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, Stata, Dashboard Reporting).
    Demonstrated experience with donor reporting (e.g., EU, USAID, GEF, UN agencies).
    Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
    Experience working with pastoralists or Indigenous communities is highly desirable.
    Knowledge of the Samburu language is an added advantage.
